Челябинский областной краеведческий музей уникальная сокровищница историко-культурных ценностей Южного Урала, был открыт в 1923 году. Это один из старейших музеев Челябинска, имеющий общероссийское значение. В его фонд входят более 270 тысяч подлинных экспонатов.
Согласно историческим данным музей неоднократно переселялся в разные помещения. С 1933 по 1989 год он располагался в здании бывшей Свято-Троицкой церкви. С началом войны музей прекратил свою деятельность. Однако уже в 1945 году вновь возобновил работу. И с 1989 года экспозиция краеведческого музея находилась в здании на проспекте им. Ленина.
Не так давно, в 2006 году музей переселился в новое здание, которое является одним из самых уникальных архитектурных построек Челябинска. Именно там ранее располагалась челябинская крепость, поэтому внешний облик краеведческого музея напоминает исторические башни.
Стоит отметить, что Челябинский областной краеведческий музей проводит обширную работу по всем направлениям, от насыщенной выставочной деятельности, до научно-исследовательской. Постоянные экспозиции построены на основе ведущих музейных технологий. Кроме того, залы оснащены современным мультимедийным оборудованием, а также имеют необычный интерьер и дизайн.
Так же здесь ведет свою деятельность Детский музей. В 2007 году Челябинский областной краеведческий музей был награжден золотой медалью на межрегиональном конкурсе за экспозицию детского отделения.
Большой, с интересными экскурсиями. Много экспонатов и фото в нем собрано. Входной билет недорогой.
